An Inventory Dashboard That Warns You Before Stock Runs Out
Stock levels that live in a spreadsheet or a Shopify backend are only useful if someone
opens them. An inventory dashboard I build puts your stock levels, reorder alerts and
slow-moving items on one private screen that your team can check in thirty seconds,
updated every night from your sheet or store data.
An inventory management dashboard solves the problem of stock data that exists but
is not visible. Reorder levels, slow movers and out-of-stock risks are all in your
sheet or store, but only if someone pulls the report. This dashboard surfaces the
items that need attention at the top of the screen every morning, without anyone
having to go looking for them.
New service line
Inventory dashboards are a new service line. I have not built one for a paying client
yet. I offer a free sample build from a section of your stock data before any money
changes hands. You see the finished screen with your own product data before deciding
anything.
What the inventory dashboard screen shows
The top section shows the items that need action now: products at or below their
reorder level, flagged clearly so a buyer or warehouse manager sees them the moment
they log in. Below that, a full stock level view shows every SKU with its current
quantity and reorder threshold. A slow-movers section shows products that have not
moved in a set number of days, sorted by how long they have been sitting. The layout
is set during the build to match how your team actually works with stock data.
The stock management dashboard connects to your data source on a nightly schedule.
If your stock is in a Google Sheet, you keep updating it as you do now and the
dashboard picks up the changes overnight. If it is in Shopify, the Admin API provides
inventory levels per location and the dashboard reads them directly.
What the client provides
1.A stock sheet or export with SKU, product name, current quantity and reorder level.
2.Shopify custom app token with inventory read access, if the store is on Shopify.
3.Who needs a login and whether each person sees all products or only their categories.
A sample stock export or a shared Google Sheet is enough. I build a working
inventory dashboard screen from your actual product data before you commit to anything.
FAQ
Inventory dashboard questions.
An inventory management dashboard shows current stock levels per product or SKU, flags items that have fallen below a reorder threshold you set, and identifies slow-moving stock that has not shifted in a defined number of days. Depending on your data source, it can also show stock movement over time so you can see whether a product is trending up or down before it becomes a problem. All of this updates automatically from your sheet or store data on a nightly schedule.
The most common sources are a Google Sheet where stock levels are updated manually or by a process, a Shopify store via the Admin API which includes inventory levels per location, and CSV exports from a warehouse or inventory management system. If your inventory data is in a structured format with SKU, quantity and reorder level columns, the dashboard can read it. I confirm what is connectable during the brief before writing a proposal.
During the build you provide a reorder level for each product or category, either as a fixed number or as a rule such as less than 10 units remaining. The stock management dashboard flags any item at or below that level with a visual indicator. The alerts update each night when the data refreshes. You can also set a low-stock section at the top of the dashboard so the items needing attention appear first without scrolling.
Yes. The dashboard has user accounts with configurable access. A warehouse manager might see all SKUs. A buyer might see only the product categories they manage. A store owner sees the full picture. Access is set during the build and can be updated at any time.
