Shopify has its own analytics, but it only shows store data. Your organic search
traffic is in Google Search Console. Your session data is in GA4. A custom Shopify
dashboard I build pulls all three onto one private screen so you can see sales,
top products and the traffic that drove them, without logging into three separate tools.
The built-in Shopify analytics are useful for store operations. They are not designed
for the question most store owners ask at the start of the week: which products are
moving, where did the buyers come from, and is organic search contributing. A custom
Shopify analytics dashboard answers those three questions on one screen, updated
every night from the Shopify Admin API and your Google connections.
New service line
Shopify dashboards are a new service line. I have not built one for a paying client yet.
I offer a free sample build using your actual store data so you can see what the
finished screen looks like before committing to the project. Details in the FAQ below.
What the Shopify dashboard screen shows
The top row holds summary cards: today's revenue, total orders, average order value
and the new-versus-returning buyer split. These are the numbers that tell you in
thirty seconds whether the store is having a good day. Below that, a product section
shows the top sellers by revenue and by order count for the current period. Further
down, a traffic section shows organic clicks and sessions from Search Console and GA4
alongside the revenue data for the same period.
I have worked on Shopify SEO for store clients and understand how organic search
contributes to store revenue. That background informs how I connect the traffic and
sales data in the dashboard, not as two separate sections, but as a view that makes
the relationship between them readable at a glance.
What the client provides
1.A Shopify custom app access token with read access to orders and products.
2.Google Search Console and GA4 viewer access, if the traffic section is included.
3.Who needs a login and what each person should be able to see.
A read-only Shopify custom app token is enough to get started. I will build a
working dashboard screen from your actual store data so you can see the result
before committing to the full build.
FAQ
Shopify dashboard questions.
A custom Shopify dashboard is a private web application that connects to your Shopify store via the Admin API and displays orders, revenue, top products and returning buyer rates in a layout designed for daily review. Unlike the built-in Shopify analytics, a custom build can sit alongside your Google Search Console and GA4 data on the same screen so you can see store performance and organic traffic together without switching tools.
Shopify analytics are built into the Shopify admin and show store data only. A custom Shopify analytics dashboard puts your store data next to your Google data on a private screen you control, behind your own domain and login. It also stores history in its own database so comparisons are available even after Shopify's own retention window. And it is accessible to anyone you give a login, including team members who do not have Shopify admin access.
The Shopify Admin API provides orders, revenue, product performance, customer data and fulfilment status. From that data the dashboard shows daily and monthly revenue, order count, average order value, top products by revenue and by order count, and new versus returning buyer split. The exact fields available depend on your Shopify plan and the custom app access token set up during the build.
No. Setting up a custom app in your Shopify admin to generate an access token takes about five minutes and requires no coding. I walk you through it during the build and you provide the token. You control the API permissions and can revoke access at any time from your Shopify admin.
Shopify dashboards are a new service line and I have not built one for a paying client yet. To give you a concrete sense of what the output looks like, I offer a free sample build. You provide read-only API access to your store and I build a working screen from your actual data. You see the result before deciding whether to proceed with the full project.
Yes. If you connect Google Search Console access during the build, the dashboard shows your organic click and impression data next to store revenue on the same screen. This makes it possible to see whether a drop in organic traffic preceded a drop in orders, or whether a product ranking for new keywords is driving measurable sales. The GSC connection is optional and can be added after the initial store build.
