Web Design & Development

Web design built for search
from the first line of code.

Most websites are designed first, then someone tries to layer SEO on after. I build sites where SEO architecture is the foundation – fast, conversion-focused, and technically correct from day one.

The Problem

Most web design projects are built wrong for search.

The typical web design process runs in the wrong order. A designer produces a visual treatment. A developer builds it. Then, months after launch, someone runs an SEO audit and discovers: the URL structure is wrong, there's no internal linking strategy, page speed scores are failing Core Web Vitals, schema markup is absent, and the heading hierarchy doesn't reflect how search engines read content. Fixing foundational issues after launch is expensive and slow.
Every website I build starts from the opposite direction. The site architecture – URL structure, page hierarchy, internal link strategy, content organization – is designed before a single visual mockup. Core Web Vitals targets are specified in the build requirements. Schema markup is planned alongside content structure. The result is a website that is ready to rank from the day it goes live, not six months after a remediation process.
This matters more now than it did two years ago. GEO – being cited in AI search responses – also depends on technical site architecture. Well-structured HTML, proper semantic markup, and correct schema implementation are prerequisites for AI platform citation, not just Google ranking. Building for both simultaneously from the start is the most efficient path to full-spectrum search visibility.

What's Included

Every project covers these layers.

01

Discovery and Strategy

Goal definition, audience analysis, competitor website analysis, and site architecture planning. This phase produces the SEO-first site map and URL structure before any design work begins.

02

SEO-First Architecture

URL structure designed around keyword intent, internal link strategy built into the page hierarchy, heading structure planned for search engine readability, and content organization that supports both user navigation and crawl efficiency.

03

Responsive Design

Desktop, tablet, and mobile designs built simultaneously rather than adapting a desktop-only layout. Mobile-first thinking because Google's mobile-first indexing makes mobile performance a primary ranking signal.

04

Core Web Vitals Optimization

Target performance scores of 90+ on PageSpeed Insights. Achieved through image optimization (WebP format, explicit dimensions, lazy loading), deferred JavaScript, critical CSS inlining, and efficient font loading. Fast sites rank better and convert better.

05

Schema Markup and Structured Data

Organization, Service, FAQ, LocalBusiness, and other schema types implemented at launch. Not added later as an afterthought. Structured data improves traditional search results (rich snippets) and GEO citation authority simultaneously.

06

Analytics and Handover

GA4 and Google Search Console setup, conversion tracking configuration, and a handover with documentation. You understand exactly how to update content, what to monitor, and how to interpret the data the site produces.

Platforms

The right platform for your specific requirements.

WordPress

The most flexible CMS for content-driven businesses. Custom theme development, plugin selection, and SEO configuration that doesn't rely on page builder bloat.

Shopify

eCommerce builds with SEO-optimized category architecture, product schema, image compression workflows, and conversion-focused design patterns.

Custom / PHP

Lightweight, fast custom builds for businesses that don't need a CMS overhead. Pure PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no framework dependency.

FAQ

Common questions about web design projects.

A website's architecture directly affects how search engines crawl, index, and rank its pages. Common design decisions – URL structure, internal linking, page speed, mobile usability, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and heading hierarchy – are all SEO signals baked into the build. Most web designers prioritize visual appeal and functionality without SEO expertise; most SEO consultants give advice after the site is built, when foundational issues are expensive to fix. The alternative is a website where SEO architecture is the starting point, not an afterthought. That's how every website I build is structured.
Every project includes: discovery and strategy (goals, audience, competitor analysis), SEO-first site architecture (URL structure, internal link strategy, page hierarchy), visual design in line with your brand, responsive development across desktop, tablet, and mobile, Core Web Vitals optimization (target: 90+ performance score), schema markup implementation, GA4 and Google Search Console setup, and a handover with documentation. The scope adapts to the project: a new business website, a redesign of an underperforming site, or a specific landing page build all receive the same SEO-grounded foundation.
A typical business website of five to fifteen pages takes four to eight weeks from project start to launch, depending on how quickly content and decisions are supplied. More complex projects – eCommerce builds, large content sites, or projects requiring custom development – take longer. Every project starts with a clear timeline agreed upfront, and I provide direct communication throughout rather than weekly status updates from a project manager.
Yes. eCommerce builds are handled on platforms appropriate for the business size and product catalog: Shopify for most eCommerce projects, WooCommerce for businesses already in the WordPress ecosystem, or Magento for larger operations with complex inventory requirements. Every eCommerce build includes SEO-optimized category page architecture, product schema markup, image optimization for Core Web Vitals, and proper canonical URL handling to prevent duplicate content issues.
